Ultimate Flight SimulatorI absolutely had to share this with the world but I promised the individual that created this astoundingly cool contraption that I would not reveal their identity, so we took a shot in silhouette. This is a screaming home–built personal computer complete with 4×19″ monitors (yes, you heard me right, I did say 4) running the latest version of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Complete with joystock and foot controls, this thing is a total blast to fly! (more…)

Nice iPhone Case

My totally awesome wife gifted me a new case for my iPhone yesterday. I had to post about this new case just in case anybody out there is looking for a new or replacement case for their iPhone and is overwhelmed by the current selection of cases out there – I know I am (How many times can I possibly get the word “case” into a sentence I wonder?)! The case is an Eco iPhone Shield model by Agent 18. I got the matte black version and I’m really happy with it. My happiness is partially due to the fact that it looks cool but mostly because it does a great job of protecting the phone and as a bonus, the bottom half of the case slides off really easily to fit in the iPhone dock! Cool.

Navicat vs. phpMyAdmin

I interface with and manage quite a number of MySQL databases these days. Historically I’ve been doing all of the management of these databases via phpMyAdmin and SQL because, well… that’s just what I’ve been used to using. Using the web based tool can get a little cumbersome if you spend a lot of time working with several MySQL databases (although I must say that I am thankful it exists and it works great). While listening to the most recent episode of the MacCast podcast, I heard Navicat mentioned. (more…)

Coda by Panic

The folks over at Panic have done it again with their new–ish web design and development application called Coda (for Mac OSX only – sorry Windows users). Coda is really sort of like a swiss army knife in that it has a number of slick little tools built in and they all work pretty well. (more…)
